The Holidays at Lake Conroe KOA

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Fifty to 60 tenters from Rice University in Houston have found a special way to celebrate the holidays. They will converge on Lake Conroe KOA on Friday, Nov. 22, on their annual trip to get a Christmas tree.

This has become an annual event for freshmen at Rice who spend the night at our campground on a Friday night and then head out the next day to locate an ideal Christmas tree to take back to campus.

The Lake Conroe KOA is an ideal location for Christmas tree shoppers as we are located near lots of woods and Christmas tree farms.

Speaking of the holidays, remember our bountiful list of activities next week to celebrate Thanksgiving. Click here to read last week’s blog entry to get all the details about the events.

4th Annual Bully Bash Coming to Conroe Convention Center

American Bully breed

American Bully breed

Another unique event is coming to our community this month. It’s the “Dirty South Bully Bash 4” on Nov. 16 at the Lone Star Convention Center in Conroe.

Between 400 and 500 dogs are expected to participate in this show, which will attract entries from around the U.S. Show hosts expect an audience of some 2,000 owners, dog lovers and curiosity seekers to attend the daylong event.

Doors to the Convention Center open at 7 a.m. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission fee is $10.

Say what you want about this breed of dog, the show sponsor, the American Bully Kennel Club (ABKC) based in Spotsylvania, Va., is high on these often-misunderstood animals. The ABKC says the American Bully should give the impression of great strength for its size. It should be compact to medium/large size dog with a muscular body and blocky head. Powerful in its movement and should display effortless movement at the same time. Keenly alive and alert to its surroundings, the American Bully should have the appearance of heavy bone structure with a Bully build and look.

For more information about the show, call (832) 642-3303.
