Residents of Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA RV park and campground can tour the Houston Holocaust Museum, a fascinating place that is a sobering reminder of where prejudice can lead. The facility offers an uncensored look at this horrific era through artifacts, film footage and photographs of pre-WWII Europe, portraying the ruthless Nazi efforts to eliminate a race of people. Among the highlights of the museum are a WWII holocaust railcar used to transport millions of Jews to a certain death.
Also housed within the facility is a Danish rescue boat that depicts a bright spot amidst the era’s worldwide ignorance, indifference and callousness to the Jewish plight. The boat was heroically used in 1943 by Christians in Denmark who risked their lives to prevent the Nazi execution of 7,200 Jews. All in all, a visit to this museum is a thought-provoking and moving educational experience.
Houston is a treasure trove of wonderful museums. Another interesting one is the National Museum of Funeral History, a facility that provides memorabilia from funerals of famous people, such as John F. Kennedy, Dwight Eisenhower, Martin Luther King Jr. and Elvis Presley.
Our park is a very drivable distance to these eye-opening museums. Visit our website and book your spot today.
