Heritage Museum of Montgomery County

museumA visit to the Heritage Museum offers a fascinating glimpse back in time that chronicles the area’s history, beginning with the prehistoric period. Residents of Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA RV park and campground can head over to the Grogan/Cochran home and learn many interesting facts as they browse through the exhibits housed in the three galleries.

The first gallery covers the period from the earliest times to the 1970s, when Lake Conroe and The Woodlands were built. A room devoted to children is the third gallery, which permits exploration of a log cabin and general store.

Contained within the second gallery are artifacts relating to the first telephone and first county fair in the area, as well as events and people who have made an impact here. A highlight is the replicated office of a local doctor who designed the Texas state flag, an emblem that would later become the Lone Star flag.
